ABOUT Family THERAPISTS //Info
Regardless of what we are doing - be it walking, talking or sitting - we communicate something. Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT's) specialize in recognizing communication patterns and then exploring new ways to translate your message so others will more fully understand you. Through the simple act of listening, and being heard - truly heard, without judgment- our quality of life can improve.
We are specifically trained to work with families, individuals and couples - to help bolster communication skills. Therapy can prove to be a powerful motivator for positive change. Of course, there is no guarantee that I am the right fit for you, or your family, which is why I offer an free initial 'get to know me' session.
I provide a safe and nourishing learning environment to explore your particular challenges. I work with you, your family, and/or child to begin to highlight and then unlock entrenched styles of communication.
I provide school or individually based anti-bullying curriculums through my organization, not the target.
Perhaps you have a teen or tween?
Living with your tween or teen may be one of the most difficult challenges you will ever face. Between the brain, emotional and - *gulp* - hormonal changes they experience, a t(w)eens world is in constant chaos (at least according to them). Their chaos inevitably makes you feel like you're living on the roller coaster with them.
I am oft asked, "What happened. I thought I knew him (or her)? Followed by the exasperated rhetorical comment, "What can I DO?! I've tried everything".
Are you struggling with fulfillment?
We all have the capacity to be happy. Sometimes, its really hard to hold onto that happiness. By exploring thoughts, we can often find old ways of thinking. Once understood, we can create new ways of thinking which helps us find (and hold onto) that magical feeling named happiness.
What to do?
While there is (of course) no easy answer telling us "What to do", counseling can offer help in opening communication lines between teens, tweens, and their exhausted parents. Sometimes, a simple change in diet may be all that is necessary. Sometimes, family therapy is the most effective treatment.
Please call me at 310 600 2369 to schedule your free (yes, free!) initial consultation. Sessions are 1.5 hours, and there is no commitment on your part. If you find I am a good fit for you, we can discuss my hourly rates, which are based on a sliding scale and linked to your families income.
